Stem occupations
The Importance of STEM in Education
While tens of thousands of workers have been laid off this year, occupations in the STEM industry remain in high demand. STEM-related jobs are expected to increase by nearly 800,000 by 2031; more than half of these are projected to be mathematical and computer occupations, according to a recent SmartAsset study. Stem careers in demand When I was still a student in high school, I used to write almost every day a little word on the corner of the blackboard, a "lucky phrase" heard among adults or read in the newspapers, to boost my classmates. “Humility precedes glory” – “Appetite comes with eating” – “Education is the key to development”. It was, moreover, my way of making the voice of the shy girl that I was heard, without overdoing it. I am speaking to a young girl who reads this blog and who, one day, dreams of getting ahead. Can I make a suggestion to you? Get up and speak! Dare to speak! …of what touches you, of what you see, of the things you hear.
Pursuing stem careers
Helping young people explore their future career options by chatting to trained and experienced STEM professionals. Select a Country/Region Talk to people in STEM fields to learn about what they do, look for summer camps or workshops in STEM, take an online course in a STEM field. I developed a massive open online course (MOOC) focused on structural engineering that is offered free through edX. Read about STEM field online, etc. The reality is that you can pretty easily transfer between different STEM fields so it is not necessary to be narrowly focused, at least initially.
What factors matter most
A growing number of immigrants are pursuing careers in science and engineering in the United States, according to a new report by the National Science Foundation. STEM Careers The STEM campaign has been underway for years, championed by policymakers across the ideological spectrum, embraced in schools everywhere and by organizations ranging from the YWCA to the Boy Scouts. By now, the term — first popularized and promoted by the National Science Foundation — is used as a descriptive identifier. “She’s a STEM,” usually meant as a compliment, suggests someone who has a leg up in the college admissions sweepstakes.

The experiments and research that biochemists and biophysicists conduct produces large amounts of data, and the use of computer software to mine these datasets for correlations about biological phenomena is often referred to as bioinformatics.
